When certain criteria are satisfied, Turkish law allows and respects the choice of the parties to a contract vesting jurisdiction in a foreign, non-Turkish court. BASEAK team, led by Partner Özgür Akman, successfully advised and represented China North Industries Corporation (Norinco) in the course of conducting settlement negotiations with ISKI (Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration) regarding a litigation dispute pending between the parties since 1998. In addition, BASEAK team successfully represented Norinco in reaching the settlement on the litigation file and upon the completion of the settlement between the parties; the case file is now closed.
